Dragons of Stormwreck Isle

Character Creation

Character creation will take place during session 0 (or on the Discord for late additions).

For a character sheet, you can use whatever works best for you. I suggest either this official sheet or this one from MCDM.

(Or, if using D&D 5e 2024, I can invite you to a D&D Beyond campaign and you can use that.)

Character creation follows the steps in the D&D Player’s Handbook and the Basic Rules (or the 2024 Basic Rules) with the following exceptions:

Ability Scores

You may choose to use one of following standard arrays, applying them to your abilities of choice. (These standard arrays already include any potential racial or background bonus, so you do not gain those if choosing this option.)

Feats

You may begin play with one feat of your choice, provided you meet the prerequisites. (This takes the place of your background feat, if granted one.)

Please check with me to confirm your chosen feat, as the way I run the game makes some feats not as useful.

Character Portrait

Optionally, find or make a character portrait.

There are many ways to find a picture to use as a character’s portrait. I recommend searching on Pintrest. Start by searching for “dnd character portrait” and refine the search as needed, such as by adding class and gender.

Once you find something you like, share it with me, and I will make it into a token for session play.

Individual Quests

Each player character has their own reason for visiting Stormwreck isle. You may choose one or create their own.

What is generally known about Stormwreck Isle:

Buried Treasure

An infamous pirate named Brastos recently escaped jail and made off with a large sum of gold and jewels. You've tracked him to Stormwreck isle, with plans to either capture him or take his treasure.

Comet of Legend

You've been tracking the progress of the eerie green comet as it moves across the sky, growing ever brighter. It is a grim portent, you are sure. Your research points you towards Stormwreck isle. There, an ancient order of wizards (certainly older than the Prismists, but also even older than even the Arcanum Chromatica) tracked the stars from their clifftop observatory long ago. Surely they have left behind an answer.

Doomed Sibling

Your brother is ill and no medicine or magic has been able to help. You've learned of a colony of myconids who live on Stormwreck isle. It is said they have a mushroom that can cure any ailment.

Dreams of Death

You've had a recurring dream involving the shadow of death. Researching the imagery from your dreams (dragon bones, a shipwreck, a compass, a locket), has pointed you towards Stormwreck isle. You believe there is some doom there you are meant to avert.

Gallows' Shadow

An informant gave you a tip that an infamous poisoner is hiding out on Stormwreck isle. The bounty on the poisoner's head would let you live in luxury for life.

Missing Friend

Your friend, Jules the tiefling fire-swallower who works for the Gilded Menagerie circus, was headed to perform for the Arcanum in the Archipelago. She was supposed to send to you when she arrived, but she never did. You fear the worst, and suspect an isle called Stormwreck is a good place to begin your search.

Seek the Wizard

There is a wizard rumored to dwell on Stormwreck Isle, who is said to possess alchemical knowledge unknown anywhere else on Wold. A scholar who obtained such knowledge could become very influential indeed.

Sword of a Leader

You seek to lead and know it is your destiny. What better way than to obtain the famous sword Azure Judgment. You've learned that the sword's most recent owner has retired to a life of peace on Stormwreck Isle. Perhaps they don't need their sword anymore.

Leveling Up

This campaign uses milestone leveling. At the end of a session, if the party has accomplished certain predetermined tasks, everyone gains a level.
